Abstract
"Crocodile Girl" was a short comic specially created for an exhibit I had the privilege of curating called POW! Womxn in Comics + Illustration. The original comic book pages were featured in an art space in Oakland known as Studio Grand. This story explains my personal relationship to my nahual (a sacred totem), the Imox. I've come to understand that this creature was meant to represent who I am and the things I will eventually become. I wanted to use comic book illustration as a way to honor my nahual, my ancestry, and my brown skin." author, Breena Nunez
