Abstract
"Kalani, a non-binary, queer mixed Native Hawaiian person, is close to graduating from the Library Science program at University of Wisconsin-Madison. They write about how the field of library science is informed by Western centrism and suggest ways of creating a more diverse and inclusive curriculum. They discuss how library catalogs ascribe classifications to marginalized groups, the relationship between the archives and colonization, and the importance of indigenous librarianship" (From World Cat)

A necessary read for western librarians/librarians in training, archivists, historians and researchers and anyone who enjoys and benefits from using the library. Learn how library science schooling and environments aren't as diverse as many have been made to believe, how (colonialist) record-keeping is biased, defaults Western archival methods and denies Indigenous ways of remembering, such as oral traditions. Learn some ways that libraries/library science courses can more collaboratively and respectfully center (aka hire! work with!) indigenous librarians and nations, tribes.
